Thank you for coming back to check out the part 2 of this series. Yes! You might have guess it right, the part 2 after killing cows and getting their cow hides is… tanning cowhides.
With this method, you will be taking cowhides and tanning them into hard leather. Let’s get started…
You see, rich players don’t like making their own hard leather to train their crafting skill, so they just buy it from the G.E instead.
Because all of these rich players want hard leather so bad, the demand for hard leather goes up much higher than the demand for cowhide, thus making the price go up too.
So, by buying cowhides(or killing cows for them), and then turning them into hard leather, you can eventually be one of those rich guys buying the hard leather!
So here’s how you do it:
First, you need cowhides. I would assume you would have at least 1,000 cowhides from part 1 of this series.
Okay, so now you’ve got your cowhides. But what do you do next? Do you need money to tan the hides?
Sorry to say, but yes, you do. On the bright side, you don’t need much, and you will get it back once you sell the cowhides.
You’ll need 3,000 gp to tan 1,000 cow hides (and 3gp to get into the Al-Kharid gate), because
it costs 3 gp per cow hide you tan.
If you don’t have this money, then you can sell about 100 of your cowhides to get the money if the need arises, but don’t sell all of them, as if you just hold out a little longer and tan them, you’ll make much more money.
So, once you’ve got the money and the cowhides, it’s time to finally tan them!
First you’ll need to get to the tanner in Al-Kharid. Here’s how to get there, assuming you’re in Lumbridge(If you’re not, then I recommend homeporting there[a free spell that requires no runes or magic level which teleports you to Lumbridge for free], as Lumbridge is really close to Al-Kharid).
Just go east out of Lumbridge, then head north until you come across a bridge, and head east until you hit the gate to Al-Kharid.
Once you get there, pay the three gp to get through the gates.
Once through, go to the bank south of where you are to get out your money and as many cowhides as you can. If you already have your money and cowhides skip to the next step.
Remember to put everything that’s in your inventory into your bank(if you can) besides your money and cowhides so you can tan more cowhides faster and save yourself some time.
Once you’ve got your money and your cowhides, head north to the tannery which is halfway in between where you are now and the Al-kharid gates.
Note: The tanner can’t tan bank notes, so you’ll have to just make multiple bank trips until all of your cowhides are hard leather.
When you get in there, you will see a cpu named Ellis(as well as other people tanning their cowhides). Right click on Ellis, and click “trade Ellis”. Then a screen will come up on what you want to tan. Right click on hard leather and click “tan all hard leather”
Congratulations! You tanned your first cowhide! All of the cowhides in your inventory will turn dark green. This is hard leather.
Go back to the bank, deposit your hard leather, withdraw more cowhides, tan them, and go back to the bank again.
Repeat this process until all of your cowhides are tanned and then sell them on the G.E for a hefty amount. Then buy more and do this whole thing again as much as you want to.
Tip: buy(or kill more cows to get)more cowhides to make more money.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT (just to say.. the poll for the gate has changed to 10gp unless you have completed the quest.. and the tanning thing has gone down to 2gp not 3.

woo 3rd comment alrite!! and this method is not as good as mine. u shud do methods for mid level players like lvl 60 – 80. I cut yews for my dough. 280kan hour in f2p. probly the best way to make money f2p next to runite

Yes I wuld have to say this is a very dumb guide im sorry if your rich you spend 400k on cow hides with is 2,000 then you tan them you only make a profit of 200k its not worth it at all!

1000 tanned cowhides is worth aproximately 200 to 300 k
best money method for me ( req levels 65 cbat , 30 mining , 30 smithing )
go to fally mines ( dwarwen mines )mine coal and iron in ratio 2 : 1 and bank when u have about 200 coal and 100 iron smith to steel bars
1 steel bar is 850 coins
100 steel bar is 85 k
1000 steel bar is 850 k
( 65 cbat req so king scorpions wont attacke u ever )

weel me and my friends used this method with cowhides as well as with bronze bars.. well this method is ist soo good but it makes 200k and it takes lot of time or even weeks so i aredy made 600k in 1 month going for steel bars and thx anywayz

this is good technique for people trying to make just an simple “ID”
but if your making a pure id then what to do cause it takes a lot of time.

You can go trough the gate for free if you finished that al karhid quest…i did and a just pass trough the gate for free

Nice guide I used to DO it like all the time when i was low lvl, now im lvl 109 =D. It works mayed my first mil off it in a week and a half at lvl 30.
Now i got 49mil since i been following ur guides and tips.

Good guide. Doesn’t fail dude. I still do it even tho im lvl 109. and i got 32mil cash left since I bought d legs& d pl8 =D. I do it in quanities of 300-500 cow hides, my best was 1000 in 45mins. You upgrade this method to green drags if ur member but it takes more effort.
